NY Red Cross Ball to Honor Humanitarians, Raise Vital Funds

WHAT: Supporters of the American Red Cross, including local officials, celebrities, corporate leaders and philanthropists will attend the annual New York Red Cross Ball.

WHY: To raise awareness and financial support for the Greater New York Region of the American Red Cross and its vital disaster relief work throughout Metropolitan New York, and across the world. The Greater New York Region of the Red Cross provides services in New York City, Long Island, much of the Lower Hudson Valley, and Greenwich, Conn. On average, it responds to nearly 3,000 local emergencies each year and assists more than 15,000 residents with food, shelter, comfort and hope.

Additionally, it provides support and emergency communications for military and their families; and provides training in lifesaving skills to more than 300,000 each year. When called upon, volunteers and workers from New York respond across the country to assist with major disasters.

A nonprofit agency, the Red Cross relies on the support of its volunteers and donors to perform its lifesaving mission.

WHO: Nearly 500 people will attend this year's Red Cross Ball, which will honor Ann F. Kaplan, a partner at Circle Wealth Management, LLC, and member of the National American Red Cross Board of Governors; Simon Ruddick, managing director of Albourne Partners Limited; and JetBlue Airways. The event will include performances by Kym Johnson and Tristan MacManus of ABC Television’s “Dancing with the Stars” and will be hosted by Roger Clark of NY1 News.

Among those presenting awards will be Niki Taylor, an internationally-known model and television personality who appeared last year on NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice” and became a member of the Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet after receiving lifesaving blood following an automobile accident.

WHEN: WEDNESDAY, June 13, 2012, 6 – 10 p.m. The event will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by the opening ceremony at 7 p.m.
