On the heels of two major apartment fires in Howard County that affected dozens of local residents, Bernie and Connie Dancel will host a cocktail reception for the Friends of the Howard County Red Cross this evening at their private residence in Ellicott City.
Mr. and Mrs. Dancel will make a short presentation about their own experiences with disasters and Howard County resident, Lori Fuchs will share her story about how a home fire changed her life forever. Both speakers will inform the audience about how the Red Cross is making a difference in lives of Howard County residents. Nearly three times every day, the Red Cross brings comfort and assistance to Marylanders affected by disasters—usually home fires.
The reception begins at 5:00PM with formal remarks starting at 6:15. The Dancel home is located at 11743 Springhaven Court, Ellicott City, MD 21042. Mr. Dancel is the CEO of Ascend One in Columbia, Maryland.
More than twice a day the American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region provides basic needs to disaster victims such as emergency shelter, food, clothing and counseling to Maryland families after disasters thanks to major support from donors to the United Way campaigns in Maryland. Each day the Red Cross also provides lifesaving blood to area hospitals; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
