Baltimore-- American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region volunteers are helping a family today that was still reeling from yesterday's fire on the 11500 block of Durango Drive in Lusby.
The Red Cross is providing emergency shelter and financial assistance to replace food, clothing and other essentials that were lost in the blaze. Red Cross workers will continue to follow up with everyone involved until all their immediate needs have been met.
More than twice a day the American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region provides basic needs to Maryland families after disasters such as emergency shelter, food, clothing and counseling thanks to major support from donors to the United Way campaigns in Maryland. Each day the Red Cross also provides lifesaving blood to area hospitals; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
