Red Cross Helps Family Displaced by Home Fire in Goose Creek

Charleston, S.C., Tuesday, November 5, 2013 – The American Red Cross provided disaster relief to a family of two adults and three children that were displaced today by a fire that destroyed their home in Goose Creek.

The Red Cross provided financial assistance for lodging, food and comfort kits containing personal hygiene items. The Red Cross also provided referrals to partnering agencies.

On average the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. Since January 1, 2013, the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of more than 1,300 families and 4,000 individuals affected by disaster.

The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross Chapters that span 35-counties of South Carolina.
