Red Cross Re-elected to International Federation Governing Board

The American Red Cross has been re-elected to a second four-year term as a member of the Governing Board of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The election took place during the biennial statutory meetings held in Sydney, Australia November 12-18.

The Governing Board governs the International Federation before and after the biennial statutory meetings. Its members include the International Federation’s President and Vice Presidents and the leaders of 20 Red Cross and Red Crescent societies from around the world.

Edward “Buzz” Heidt, Jr, a former National Vice-Chairman of the American Red Cross Board of Governors and current Chair of the International Movement Advisory Council, will continue to represent the American Red Cross on the Governing Board.

During his first term on the governing board, Heidt was instrumental in leading a series of important initiatives to improve fiscal and governance effectiveness, and plans to bring the same leadership and focus to this next four-year term.
