EL PASO, September 10, 2012 — The American Red Cross El Paso and Pets Barn have partnered in an effort to assist families with pets that have been affected by disaster. When people lose their homes to fire, flood, or other natural disasters, their pets lose everything too. The El Paso Area Chapter is improving their service delivery for pet owning families in El Paso by providing dog and cat specific resources to these families. Pets Barn is focused on making the El Paso community a pet friendly area, and as such, they are providing vouchers for food, toys, bowls, and leashes to go to Red Cross families affected by disaster. The Red Cross has also established a network of veterinary clinics that will provide medical care should pets be injured or made ill as a result of a disaster. Due to a generous grant from the ASPCA, the Red Cross is now able to provide vouchers to offset some of the cost of these visits.
Pets Barn Owner Dean Travis will be presenting the vouchers to Red Cross El Paso Executive Director Mark Matthys on Monday, September 10th at 3:00pm at the Valley Feed warehouse location. 368 Yarbrough, El Paso, TX, 79915.
