Red Cross urges Mississippians to prepare for severe storms

FLOWOOD, Miss., Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 — With the severe weather expected in Mississippi today, tonight and through Tuesday, the American Red Cross urges residents to take steps now to stay safe as thunderstorms and possible tornadoes, damaging winds, hail and flash flooding threaten.

“We are on alert and reaching out to our volunteers to be ready to respond; our emergency response vehicles are ready to roll,” said Bob Devaney, regional disaster officer for Mississippi Red Cross. “We urge everyone to take a few simple steps that can help save lives during severe weather. Be on your guard and have a plan.”
