Youth Program Launches in Oakland Chinatown

Red Cross Launches Bi-lingual Youth for Community Engagement Team in Oakland Chinatown

WHO:

The Oakland Chinatown Preparedness Committee (OCPC) –a coalition of community agencies, whose mission is

to utilize community resources and network to serve and educate the residents, local organizations, and

businesses of Oakland Chinatown to become more prepared for emergencies and disasters.

    City officials, community advocates and representatives from local non-profit organizations will gather to launch

    the Youth for Community Engagement (YCE) – a unique volunteer program supported by the Oakland

    Chinatown Preparedness Committee and the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter to engage local bilingual

    youth in community service and to help build a disaster resilient Oakland Chinatown Community.
