2014 Heroes Breakfast Announced and Call for Nominations

San Jose, CA – The American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter is pleased to announce the 2014 Heroes Breakfast will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the San Jose Tech Museum of Innovation.

The Silicon Valley Chapter is currently seeking nominations for the Hero Awards, which recognizes members of the community who sprang into action in a moment of need. These people could be your neighbors, co-workers, friends, or family. Help us celebrate courage, compassion, and community in the Capital of Creativity!

Santa Clara County residents are encouraged to nominate a hero for one of the following categories by filling out this online nomination form:

  • Lifesaving Hero: Presented to an adult or youth who has performed an extraordinary lifesaving act, using skills such as water rescue, first aid or CPR.
  • Community Service Hero: Presented to an adult, youth, business, or organization that consistently demonstrates a commitment to make the Silicon Valley a more compassionate and safer community.
  • Technology Hero: Presented to an individual or organization for the creation or application of technology to better respond to humanitarian need.
  • A committee of community leaders will select award recipients from among the nominees based on the impact of their actions and consistency of their commitment to the values of the American Red Cross. Selected American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter heroes will be honored at the breakfast celebration on November 6, 2014 at the Tech Museum.

All nominees must work or reside in Santa Clara County, although the heroic acts may have occurred elsewhere. The heroic act must have occurred between July 1, 2013 and August 22, 2014. The deadline to submit nominations is on Friday, August 22, 2014.
