Monterey Bay Area Chapter Recognizes 13 Outstanding Volunteers

CARMEL, CA (October 15, 2013) – The American Red Cross Monterey Bay Area Chapter is proud to announce this year’s Volunteer of the Year, Dennis Alexander of Seaside.

The Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to an individual who best exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism and who has contributed significantly to operations, programs, and services as well as the mission of the Red Cross. The award was given at the Volunteer Recognition Dinner on October 10 at the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Course. Nearly 100 volunteers were in attendance.

Dennis is without a doubt an exemplary volunteer who continuously demonstrates his passion and dedication to serving the community. He is as a math teacher at a local high school, Reserve Police Officer, and Seaside City Councilmember. Dennis has also been a Red Cross volunteer for more than a decade and is heavily involved with Disaster Services as a Disaster Action Team member. He has been deployed to several locations including Hurricane Rita and Katrina in 2005 and Superstorm Sandy in 2012.

In 2010, Dennis joined the Monterey Bay Area Chapter Board of Directors where he serves on the Board Development Committee. He is also the Chair of the Search Committee for the next Chapter Executive Director.

  • Red Cross Club: Nadine Custis, Monterey
  • Blood Services: Penny Mount, Salinas
