Red Cross Assists 26 Affected by 10 Fires Easter Weekend

COLUMBIA, S.C., Monday, April 23, 2014 – The Red Cross Palmetto SC Region assisted 26 people affected by 10 fires Easter weekend by providing for their immediate needs such as temporary lodging, food, essential hygiene items, health services, and emotional support.

“Our hearts go out to those devastated by fire over the Easter weekend,” said Louise Welch Williams, regional chief executive officer, Palmetto SC Region. “We would not be able to help people affected by fires if it were not for the dedication of our disaster-trained volunteers and generous financial support of our community.”
