New Orleans, LA - In celebration of national American Red Cross month in March, the Greater New Orleans Wendy’s restaurants are partnering with the Red Cross to encourage disaster preparedness.
From March 5 through March 31, customers can show their Red Cross support at participating Wendy’s Restaurants. Wendy’s will donate a percentage of each participating customer’s tab to the Red Cross. Customers must print and present a coupon upon checkout. Click here to download voucher.
Throughout March, the Red Cross will host emergency preparedness information sessions at select Wendy’s locations. The sessions will help residents prepare for disasters such as floods, fires or hurricanes. Volunteers also will share more about Red Cross programs and volunteer opportunities.
"Wendy’s is once again honored to partner with the America Red Cross Southeast Louisiana Chapter," said Tony Diaz, Director of Area Operations of The Wendy’s Company. "Our hope is the offer of donations will motivate more customers to support the Red Cross and helpsave lives in our region."
“Since Clara Barton established the Red Cross in America more than 130 years ago, the Red Cross has led the effort to help communities prevent, prepare for, and respond to disasters and other emergencies,” said Kay W. Wilkins, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross South Louisiana Region.
For more than 70 years, all U.S. presidents, including President Barack Obama, have designated March as Red Cross Month to recognize how the American Red Cross helps people across the country and around the world.
"The Red Cross would like to thank Wendy’s Restaurants and their customers for their generous support of this mission,” Wilkins said. “These donations will assist our neighbors in communities all across Southeast Louisiana in times when they need it most."
The Red Cross responds to nearly 70,000 disasters of all sizes every year in this country. It provides 24-hour support to members of the military, veterans and their families – in war zones, in military hospitals and on military installations around the world; collects and distributes about 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply; and trains millions of people in first aid, water safety and other life-saving skills.
Here in Southeast Louisiana, the American Red Cross responds to about 650 local emergencies each year, assists more than 400 military families and trains 12,000 people in lifesaving skills.
