Kernville, Calif., June 25, 2016 — The American Red Cross of Kern County has identified several opportunities for the community to donate to residents affected by the ongoing Erskine Fire.
“Financial donations are still the best the way to help with Red Cross relief efforts, but we recognize the need to support the community’s overwhelming generosity,” said Red Cross Executive Director Barry Falke, “We’re working in close partnership with community organizations like the local Elks Lodge, Salvation Army, Victim Relief, and Goodwill Industries to accept and sort these generous donations from the public.”
A new drop off site for donated goods has been established at the Elks Lodge in partnership with the Salvation Army, 6708 Wofford Blvd., Wofford Heights, CA 93285. Later today affected residents will also be encouraged to pick up needed items from this location.
Additionally, the community may drop off goods like household items and clothing to their nearest Goodwill store, where residents will be able to pick up donations free of charge. Visit our website for additional information and a list of Goodwill locations: redcross.org/Erskine-fire-response.
“At this time our shelters have everything they need to support the residents, so we encourage the community to take advantage of these drop-off sites,” said Falke, “We are so grateful for all of the community volunteers and organizations that have offered their support.”
The Red Cross is able to provide disaster relief services during wildfire season thanks to the generosity of the community. The best way to support Red Cross relief efforts is through a financial donation. Every gift provides hope to a family in need and allows local volunteers to respond to disasters big and small.
