Cynthia Shaw, Red Cross
[Salinas, October 4, 2016] Through a partnership with Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System, the American Red Cross of the Central Coast is relocating its Salinas office to 611 Abbott Street, Salinas on the Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS) campus. The new office will be open by appointment, for meetings and classes, and during local disasters. As always, people can continue to reach the local Red Cross chapter at (831) 624-6921.
Our new location will provide a clean, friendly, convenient, safe and easily accessible location for volunteers and employees who provide Red Cross services and classes and for residents who require those services. The new office is more functional because our partnership allows us to utilize SVMHS’s state of the art equipment, ample parking, as well as ensuring we make best use of the donated dollar.
“Our services to the community will not be impacted in any way before, during or after the move. We will continue to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies,” said Michele Averill, Chief Executive Officer, American Red Cross of the Central Coast. “This new location will enhance our service to the community, offers numerous partnership opportunities to create a resilient community, and is an ideal location for our volunteers.”
“We are honored to partner with the American Red Cross,” said Pete Delgado, President/CEO of Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. “It is our duty as a public healthcare district hospital to be prepared in the event of an emergency, and the American Red Cross is an ideal partner in that regard.”
The organizations plan to partner in health & safety training and military and veteran support programs in addition to blood services and disaster preparedness.
The previous Red Cross office on Lupin Avenue is now closed and is being marketed for sale. By having a leased office, Red Cross can better predict and manage our operating expenses and allow us to meet our donors desire to direct more of the donated dollars to our clients.
