Red Cross to Host Power of the Purse Fundraiser

CINNAMINSON, NJ, April 6, 2016 – The American Red Cross is hosting its annual Power of the Purse fundraiser on Thursday, May 5 at The Merion in Cinnaminson.

Power of the Purse offers a fun-filled evening of delicious food and a silent auction featuring more than 60 designer bags including one-of-a-kind creations from fashion students at Rowan University. Guests will also enjoy facials, make-overs, a photo booth, sweepstakes and fantastic shopping opportunities from local boutiques.

“We invite all to join us for our annual Power of the Purse,” said June Sernak, executive director, American Red Cross Southwestern New Jersey. “Bring your friends or come meet new ones as you shop to support a great cause.”

Proceeds from Power of the Purse will benefit Red Cross Disaster Relief to help prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small. Each year, the American Red Cross responds to nearly 66,000 disasters each year, many of these being home fires. Last year, the American Red Cross New Jersey Region responded to 889 local disasters, mostly home fires, to provide comfort and emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food and clothing as needed to 1,820 families.
