(Houston, TX - April 25, 2016) —The American Red Cross today announced a disaster relief contribution of $100,000 by Noble Energy in response to this week’s devastating storms and flooding in Houston. In addition to the contribution, Noble Energy will match eligible employee donations two-to-one through its NobleACTS matching gifts program. Eligible employee volunteer hours will also result in additional contributions by the company.
“Houston is our home and many of our communities and employees have been seriously impacted by the recent storms and flooding across our city,” said David Stover, Chairman, President and CEO, Noble Energy, Inc. “Our donation to the Red Cross will help our neighbors and employees recover from the damage and devastation. This contribution will be further amplified by our company match and our employees’ volunteer efforts.”
Headquartered in Houston, Noble Energy is an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company with a diversified high-quality portfolio of both U.S. unconventional and global offshore convention assets spanning three continents. The company’s decision to support flood victims in its headquarter community represents a giving philosophy with a strong focus on community safety, preparedness and aid during disasters.
Initial reports indicate that more than 4,500 homes in the Greater Houston area took on water over the last few days and the threat of more flooding will continue throughout this week. The American Red Cross has been working day and night to offer shelter, meals, relief supplies and comfort to flood victims.
“We are deeply grateful to Noble Energy for this generous gift at this critical time in our community,” said Steve Vetrano, Regional CEO, American Red Cross of the Texas Gulf Coast. “For example, since the beginning of our flood response the Red Cross has provided nearly 1,500 shelter stays and 13,180 meals to those in need. Community partners like Noble Energy make our work possible every day. Thank you for supporting Red Cross relief efforts and helping us to meet the critical needs of Houston families and communities.”
