With the polar blast now pushing the south, and bringing in more freezing temperatures today, the American Red Cross, together with Mecklenburg County and Charlotte Mecklenburg Emergency Management is opening a Warming Center to make sure everyone can escape from the cold.
The Center will open today (January 28) and will remain open until noon tomorrow. The Center is located at 618 North College Street in the Mecklenburg County Homeless Resource Center.
"We are opening the Warming Center due to temperatures being in the upper teens and lower 20s," said Angela A. Broome, regional chief executive officer. "We want to make sure that anyone who needs a place to stay out of the cold, has the opportunity to keep warm."
