PALMYRA, N.Y. (May 14, 2015) — Curt Smith, an acclaimed author, award-winning radio commentator and noted speech writer for President George H.W. Bush, will be the guest speaker at a Salute Brunch for Military Families, Veterans and Reservists hosted by the American Red Cross from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 30, at the Palmyra VFW, 4306 State Route 31, Palmyra.
Smith, an upstate New York native and resident, wrote more speeches than anyone else for Bush during his 1989-93 presidency, and the New York Times called his work “the high point of Bush familial eloquence.” Smith’s 16th book, “George W. Bush: Character at the Core” was released last year, and Smith is also well-known as a Rochester television political analyst and national newspaper columnist.
“Curt Smith is one of America’s preeminent storytellers and leading authorities on politics and sports, and we’re thrilled that he has agreed to join us on May 30 to entertain our military families, veterans, reservists and guests,” said James Love, Director of Military Programs and International Services for the American Red Cross Western & Central New York Region.
The Salute Brunch is free and open to the public, and food will be provided by the Palmyra VFW Auxiliary. Anyone interested in attending the brunch should RSVP by Tuesday, May 26, to Love at email@example.com or (585) 241-4418.
