PALMYRA, N.Y. (May 26, 2015) — Curt Smith, an acclaimed author, award-winning radio commentator and noted speech writer for President George H.W. Bush, will be the guest speaker at a Salute Brunch for Military Families, Veterans and Reservists hosted by the American Red Cross from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 30, at the Palmyra VFW, 4306 State Route 31, Palmyra.
The public and media are welcomed to attend the Salute Brunch. Here are the details:
What: Salute Brunch for Military Families, Veterans and Reservists hosted by the Red Cross.
When/Where: 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Palmyra VFW, 4306 State Route 31.
Who: The guest speaker is Curt Smith, an upstate New York native and resident who wrote more speeches than anyone else for Bush during his 1989-93 presidency (the New York Times called his work “the high point of Bush familial eloquence.”). Smith’s 16th book, “George W. Bush: Character at the Core” was released last year, and Smith is also well-known as a Rochester television political analyst and national newspaper columnist.
The organizations participating in the Salute Brunch include Army Strong Community Center; Canandaigua Veterans Administration Medical Center; Compeer Corps; the office of Congressman John Katko (24th District); Heroes Home Advantage; Housing Council at Pathstone; Lifetime Care – Vet to Vet Program; and Veterans Outreach Center.
