CORTLAND, N.Y. (Aug. 12, 2014) — The Third Annual Ride For Red to benefit the American Red Cross of Cortland County will be held at noon Sunday, Aug. 17, with the start and finish at Three Bear Inn in Marathon.
The 100-mile Ride For Red will roll through five counties of scenic farm country with stops at the Georgetown Inn, Preble Hotel and Dryden Hotel. All makes and models of motorcycles are welcome, and the event will feature prizes, a buffet dinner, a 50/50 raffle and entertainment.
Registration runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 17 at Three Bear Inn, 3 Broome St., Marathon. There is a $20 donation per bike, and $10 for passengers. Proceeds from the Ride for Red will help the American Red Cross of Cortland County prepare for disasters and provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance in response to disasters such as house fires and floods.
“On behalf of Cortland County residents who require Red Cross services, I’d like to thank Three Bear Inn and all of our sponsors and volunteers who continue to grow this unique event,” said Michele Whalen, Branch Manager of the American Red Cross of Cortland County. “We had 84 bikes and 113 riders last year – up from 64 and 90 in 2012 – and we’re looking forward to an even bigger turnout this year.”
