Red Cross Seeks Nominations for Real Heroes Breakfast Awards

ENDICOTT, N.Y. (Jan. 30, 2015) — The American Red Cross of the Southern Tier is seeking nominations for its Sixth Annual Real Heroes Breakfast, which will be held at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, at The McKinley at Huron Campus, Endicott.

The Real Heroes Breakfast celebrates the Red Cross mission of alleviating human suffering by recognizing residents from Broome, Chenango and Tioga counties who in the past year have performed heroic acts in life-threatening situations. Proceeds from the Real Heroes Breakfast support Red Cross lifesaving services such as disaster response, preparedness education, and service to members of our Armed Forces.

The Real Heroes Breakfast honors residents in 12 award categories: Adult Good Samaritan, Animal Rescue, Blood Donor, Education, Fire Rescue, Good Neighbor, Law Enforcement, Lifeline/9-1-1, Medical, Military, Workplace Safety and Youth Good Samaritan.

“Whether it’s a first responder who acted bravely in a life-threatening situation, or your next-door neighbor who donates blood on a regular basis, you may know ‘Real Heroes’ in our community,” said Shelley Bierwiler, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Southern Tier Chapter. “Please take a few minutes to fill out the nomination form so we can honor them.”
