ITHACA, N.Y. (April 4, 2014) —The Central New York Region of the American Red Cross has named Melanie Pandich as Individual and Community Preparedness Specialist/Program Coordinator, Region Chief Executive Officer Rosie Taravella announced today. Pandich is working out of the American Red Cross of the Southern Tier office in Endicott.
As Individual and Community Preparedness Specialist, Pandich will organize and manage community preparedness activities throughout the 16-county Central New York Region. As Program Coordinator, Pandich is responsible for recruiting, orienting and supervising volunteers from Broome, Chenango, Tioga and Tompkins counties, and assisting with the Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) program, the Real Heroes Breakfast event, and community relations.
“The Red Cross is a wonderful organization that truly makes a difference in our communities every day,” Pandich said. “I look forward to making our communities better prepared for disasters and working with our volunteers who provide Red Cross services throughout the Southern Tier.”
A Conklin native, Pandich has received two associate degrees from Broome Community College. She has spent the past 14 years serving the local community, most recently working in Constituent Services at the Broome County Executive’s office.
Pandich has also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad, and she served as a volunteer firefighter for the Conklin Fire Department and EMT for the Chenango Ambulance Service.

Pandich lives in the Town of Chenango with her husband, James, and their cat J.B. In her spare time, Pandich enjoys spending time with family and friends (and J.B.), cooking, traveling, rooting for her beloved New York Yankees, and watching her favorite TV show, Big Bang Theory.
