SYRACUSE, N.Y. (March 17, 2015) — The Central New York Chapter of the American Red Cross will continue to host Volunteer Enrollment events over the next two weeks in Auburn, Syracuse and Oneida. The next event is at 6 p.m. Monday, March 23, at the Red Cross office in Auburn.
The events, which started in January, are open to anyone interested in learning about the ways in which the Red Cross supports Central New York residents. Red Cross staff members and current volunteers will be available to discuss volunteer opportunities in several lines of service: Disaster Services, Blood Services, Service to the Armed Forces, and Health and Safety Services.
Here are the times, dates and locations for the next Volunteer Enrollment events:
Cayuga County: Red Cross office, 11 State St., Auburn
March 23: 6-7:30 p.m.
Madison County: Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., Oneida
April 2: 10-11:30 a.m.
Onondaga County: Red Cross office, 344 W. Genesee St., Syracuse
March 19: 10-11:30 a.m.

The Red Cross is also searching for volunteers to join its Disaster Action team (DAT), which responds to local emergencies and large nationwide disasters. Locally, DAT volunteers respond to emergencies such as house fires, floods, transportation accidents and natural disasters. Relief efforts range from providing food and shelter to offering emotional support to the victims.
The Red Cross invites residents to attend an event and consider volunteering regardless of their experience levels. While needs may vary based on current events, the Red Cross will do its best to accommodate everyone’s desire to get involved.
To RSVP to an event or for more information, please contact Volunteer Specialist Julie Mucilli at firstname.lastname@example.org or (315) 234-2217. Residents are asked to RSVP so the Red Cross can contact them if an event is postponed due to inclement weather.
