(Northeast, PA, October 1, 2014) — The American Red Cross NEPA Region continues to provide support to the Pennsylvania State Police and additional law enforcement agencies during an ongoing investigation following a fatal shooting of a state police trooper and critically wounding a second trooper on the evening of September 12, 2014, outside of the State Police barracks in Blooming Grove Township, PA.
The Red Cross NEPA Region first responded on September 13th, 2014 and will continue to provide meals, beverages, and refreshments until our services are no longer required. The Red Cross is providing over 1,000 meals/day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), from multiple locations within the Pocono/Wayne Pike area. The Red Cross also provided snacks and refreshments during the memorial and funeral services for State Police Corporal Bryon Dickson.
This endeavor would not be possible without the overwhelming generosity of the public. Restaurants, supermarkets, businesses, organizations, individuals, and families from throughout the region continue to donate meals, beverages, snacks and anything else that may be needed. At this time, the Red Cross is not actively seeking donations for additional food and beverages. The Red Cross will release a final list of all those who contributed donations when our services are no longer needed.
