Local American Red Cross Kicks Off Annual Art Gala & Exhibition with Opening Reception

ERIE, Pa. – Every year, the local American Red Cross Greater Erie County Chapter showcases the talent and creativity of multiple artists in the area with its annual Art Gala & Exhibition. Through this unique event, the organization offers area residents the opportunity to take home one-of-a-kind pieces of local artwork.

To kick off the 2013 Art Gala & Exhibition, the local Red Cross will host its Opening Reception event, for interested and participating artists, on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the chapter office, located at 4961 Pittsburgh Avenue.

The Opening Reception features a display of artwork to be showcased in this year’s Art Gala & Exhibition. Interested artists are invited to attend the Opening Reception to meet other artists and view their artwork as well as learn more about the event.

Artists who participate in the exhibition are invited to donate a piece of their art work – including oil, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, clay, wood, metal, photography and mixed media – to the American Red Cross for use in the event.

The Art Gala & Exhibition will be held at the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $250 per couple and are sold according to the number of donated art pieces, allowing every couple the opportunity to bring home a unique art piece of their choice.

At the start of the Gala, ticketholders and donating artists receive a special limited edition sculpture by artist John St. George. At 2:30 p.m., the lottery drawing begins and attendees can make their art choices.

All funds raised remain in the community and help the local Red Cross provide its vital services, including relief to those affected by disasters such as home fires and floods, preparedness education and support to area military families.
