American Red Cross Hazleton Chapter Honors Volunteers For Dedication and Support within the Community

HAZLETON, PA (Sept. 18, 2013) – The American Red Cross Hazleton Chapter paid tribute to its volunteers at a recognition event held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at The Best Western Genetti Inn & Suites in Hazleton, PA. Over 70 volunteers were in attendance and enjoyed a delicious luncheon while listening to speakers, including: John Meier Jr., Hazleton Chapter Chairman; Sherry Nealon-Williams, Executive Director; Peter M. Brown, Regional CEO and Adrian Grieve, Regional Emergency Services Officer.

Sherry Nealon-Williams, Executive Director said, “The dedication and compassion of our volunteers within the Hazleton chapter is humbling. The American Red Cross relies heavily on these individuals in order to properly execute its’ mission. On behalf of myself and the organization, I am grateful for their support.” Volunteers assist in every facet of the Red Cross - Disaster Services, for example, where volunteers respond to a house fire at any time of day or night, offering the family food, clothing, lodging and hope for tomorrow.

Peter M. Brown, Regional CEO said, “Without the efforts of volunteers, the American Red Cross could not fulfill its mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies, whether it's a fire affecting a family in Hazleton, or a hurricane impacting thousands. We're pleased to honor the volunteers who support the Hazleton American Red Cross Chapter, and thank them for the gift of their time and talents to help others in need.”
