American Red Cross Recruiting Armed Forces Veterans and Retirees for Volunteer Disaster Response Team

(Berks County, PA) Sept. 19, 2013 – Are you interested in helping out in times of disaster? The American Red Cross Northeast PA Region is looking for volunteer Disaster Responders to support its’ Logistics activity. These responders provide the backbone of any operation; ensuring vitally needed supplies are available and accounted for during times of disaster. We know that Veterans and Retirees that served in the military have the skill set and experience necessary to serve on our Disaster Team.

The Red Cross will host American Red Cross Logistics Training: Overview on September 30, 2013 from 10 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Berks Chapter. The class will give participants a bird’s eye view of the logistics activity within a relief operation and will also provide a look at how supplies are acquired, stored and disseminated within a disaster relief operation. It will also serve as the pre-requisite for deployment as a Disaster Responder in the Logistics group. Additionally, the Red Cross Service to Armed Forces Program will inform participants of the many programs and services offered to both active and retired military forces.
