AIKEN, S.C., Monday, May 12 – A golf outing for middle and high school students benefiting the American Red Cross Aiken Area Chapter will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26 at Houndslake Country Club. The Red Cross is eagerly encouraging all young golfers, no matter their skill level, to participate in this event free of charge.
Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Lunch and dinner are provided at no cost to all golfers.
“This is a great event for young golfers, and we are grateful for the community’s support by providing the prizes and sponsorships,” said board member Annie Reagan, who along with her fiancé Don Cheeks, are instrumental in putting this golf outing together. “This is our eighth year doing this event, and we’re proud supporters of the American Red Cross.”

Because of trained disaster volunteers and financial assistance from the community, Red Cross has been able to help more than 1,400 people affected by disasters in the Palmetto SC region since January 1. On average, the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross chapters spanning 35-counties of South Carolina.
