Holes for Heroes Benefits Coastal Chapter

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., Tuesday, May 27 – Gilligan’s Island Funland Golf is hosting its fourth annual Holes for Heroes miniature golf event June 2 at its location at 3009 Hwy 17 South in Garden City.  All of the revenue from that day will be donated to the Coastal SC Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The fun begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 8 p.m. with all day golf, face painting, food and drinks, and balloon artists.

“This is a great event for families and a great way to support the vital services of the Red Cross,” said Nanci Conley, executive director, Coastal SC Chapter. “The Red Cross will receive 100 percent of the revenue from the day which will help families devastated by home fires.”

Conley said on average it takes $1,250 to support a family of four after a home fire, and this year’s goal is to adopt 25 families through the proceeds from this year’s event.

Because of trained disaster volunteers and financial assistance from the community, Red Cross has been able to help more than 1,400 people affected by disasters in the Palmetto SC region since January 1. On average, the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours.  The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross chapters spanning 35-counties of South Carolina including the Coastal SC Chapter.
