Red Cross Assists Family with Seven Children After Fire in Andrews

MRYTLE BEACH, S.C., Friday, Nov. 15 – The American Red Cross Coastal SC Chapter assisted a family of seven children and four adults whose home was destroyed by a fire today in Andrews.

The Red Cross met with the family to assess their needs, providing them with comfort kits which included personal hygiene items, and funds for lodging and clothes, along with referrals to local partnering agencies.

Because of trained disaster volunteers and financial assistance from the community, Red Cross has been able to help more than 4,300 individuals and 1,400 families affected by disasters in the Palmetto SC region since January 1. On average, the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross chapters spanning 35-counties of South Carolina.
