Zac Brown Concert Goers Can Park for a Purpose

CHARLESTON, SC Friday, October 18, 2013 - Zac Brown concert goers can park with a purpose in Benefitfocus parking lot for a minimum $10 donation to Red Cross. Red Cross volunteers will be accepting the donations at both Benefitfocus parking lot entrances on Fairchild Street on Daniel Island Saturday and Sunday.

“We are excited to be a part of this fundraising opportunity for the American Red Cross,” said Nina Sossamon-Pogue, Vice President, Marketing & Communications at Benefitfocus. “Our associates are very active in both community service and social outreach, and we have a long standing relationship with the Red Cross. We are always looking for new ways to help this great organization raise the money they use to save lives.”

The Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross assisted 1,095 individuals affected by disaster in the Lowcountry last year. The chapter also trained 7,569 people in the Lowcountry in lifesaving skills, such as CPR/AED and First Aid, sent 2,653 emergency messages to members of the armed forces and their families and distributed 59,590 units of blood to area hospitals.

“We appreciate the opportunity Benefitfocus is giving us to raise funds for the vital services we provide in the Lowcountry,” said Louise Welch Williams, regional chief executive officer of the American Red Cross Palmetto SC Region. “Generous supporters like Benefitfocus, enable the Red Cross to be there whenever and wherever we are needed. “

The Carolina Lowcountry Chapter is part of the Palmetto SC Region, which is made up of seven Red Cross chapters that span 35-counties in South Carolina. The Palmetto SC Region touches 1 in 12 lives in our community every year and responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. Since January 1, 2013, the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of more than 1,200 families and 3,900 families affected by disaster.
