According to the November poll, 88% of Americans have “a great deal” or “a fair amount of trust” in the Red Cross.  Compared to fifteen other major nonprofits headquartered in the Washington DC area, Red Cross ranked second in trust only to Consumer Reports and above AARP, The Nature Conservancy, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Education Association and the Sierra Club.  The poll also documents steady improvements in trust, from 84% in 2006 to the current 88%.

About the American Red Cross:
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
