WASHINGTON, Friday, February 09, 2007 — The American Red Cross today proudly announced that ChoicePoint (NYSE: CPS) received the Circle of Humanitarians award in recognition of a generous gift of technology and services donated in 2005 in support of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma relief efforts. ChoicePoint provided $1 million in authentication and verification services to the Red Cross to reduce fraud and help ensure that only people in need of assistance received benefits.

The Circle of Humanitarians award, one of the organization's highest honors, recognizes companies and individuals whose contributions provide life-saving support through Red Cross programs.

"ChoicePoint is honored to receive this recognition from the American Red Cross," said Derek Smith, ChoicePoint chairman and CEO. "ChoicePoint has been a partner of the Red Cross for many years and we are proud to continue to serve an organization that is built on the principal of service to others."

"We are thankful to ChoicePoint for their generous donation, which helped us serve our neighbors affected by these devastating storms," said Kathleen Loehr, interim Senior Vice President of Development for the American Red Cross. "This gift helped ensure that assistance, made possible through the generosity of the American public, made a difference in the lives of people that were truly in need."

The American Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, almost a million volunteers and 35,000 employees helped victims of almost 75,000 disasters; taught lifesaving skills to millions; and helped U.S. service members separated from their families stay connected. Almost 4 million people gave blood through the Red Cross, the largest supplier of blood and blood products in the United States. The American Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs. The Red Cross is not a government agency; it relies on donations of time, money, and blood to do its work.
