STATEMENT OF THANKS TO THE FCC

WASHINGTON, Wednesday, September 07, 2005 — The American Red Cross is very grateful to the Federal Communications Commission for its decisive action that obtained for the Red Cross the right to use 800-RED-CROSS. This has been an objective of the American Red Cross for many years and Hurricane Katrina has underlined its importance. We are particularly grateful to Chairman Kevin Martin and his staff for recognizing the importance of our obtaining the use of this number. It is the intention of the Red Cross to begin using this important phone number as soon as possible.
