Human Research Subject Protection Information

All participants in the Research Blood Program are protected by Federal Regulations described in the Code of Federal Regulations and the compliance standards adhered to by the American Red Cross.

All studies that use blood are reviewed by an the American Red Cross Institutional Review Board (IRB).

The IRB’s primary responsibility is to protect human subjects who participate in research studies.

IRB members are individuals from the American Red Cross and the community at large, including doctors, lawyers, and laymen
