"The Notagains": A Disaster Preparedness and Response CD-ROM for Children
Computer Requirements
The Red Cross Disaster Safety CD-ROM contains two versions of the computer program. One version will work on a PC, and one version will work on a Power Mac.
To run the CD-ROM you need:
- Pentium PC with Windows 95 and a minimum clock speed of 100 MHz. The faster the clock speed, the better or
a Power Mac with Systems 7.1 or better.
- A minimum of 16 MB RAM
- A 2X CD drive or faster
- A color monitor with 640 x 480 resolution with thousands of colors
- A sound card with speakers
CD-ROM Operating Instructions

Turn on the computer. Go to Windows 95 main screen (for PC) or open computer as usual method (for Mac).

Open the CD-ROM drawer and load the CD-ROM.
- Turn your speakers on and adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level.
- Click on the "Start" button. Enter the following information in the dialogue box for the name of the program to run:
For a PC: (X):ARC66.EXE
For a Mac: (X):ARC66.MAC
Where "X" is the designator of the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
Hit "enter."
- The CD-ROM will ensure your computer can run the program. If there are any problems, it will let you know. Otherwise, you will be prompted to click "ok" on a box on the screen to indicate that you are ready to run the program.
- The program will begin to run. Just click on things to explore the program.
To Stop the Program:
- Go back to the main screen of "The Notagains" program.
- Click on the bus stop. The program will end.
- Alternate (emergency) end: just hit the escape key. (This works on a PC only, not a Mac).
- Remove the CD-ROM following the usual procedures that your computer requires.
