Presidential Internship Activities

Stilt Lady

One of the most exciting aspects of the Presidential Intern Program is the opportunity to experience different opportunities and events in and around the American Red Cross. Below is a sample of the activities and events organized for the 2007 Presidential Interns:

Meeting the President/CEO
Presidential interns have breakfast with and hear from the American Red Cross President and CEO. He shares information on his experience serving in this position and follows with a question and answer period.

Meeting Senior Leadership
This is an opportunity to meet with and talk to Red Cross leaders. The experience provides interns with a more comprehensive understanding of the American Red Cross and valuable insight from key leaders.

Immersion Day
Presidential Interns visit the Baltimore Blood Region and Area Chapter facilities to spend the day learning about local Red Cross units and how they function. This grassroots experience includes meetings with the Baltimore Chapter Executive and Blood Region Executive; interacting with the Volunteer Coordinator; hearing from blood recipients; touring the local Blood Lab; and visiting the Holocaust Tracing Services.

Red Cross Opportunities Day
Interns learn more about ways to get involved with and work for the American Red Cross, establish campus clubs and gain career insights from senior leaders in the Red Cross. This seminar includes information from a hiring manager from National Headquarters’ Human Resources Department and a representative from the Youth and Young Adults Department.

Career Development Afternoon
Presidential Interns meet with professionals who discuss their experiences in both the corporate and non-profit worlds and offer advice about pursuing successful and fulfilling professional careers.
