When asked how they recruit and retain lifeguards, here is what your colleagues have said...
"We've developed more instructor trainers and instructors and encourage Authorized Providers to provide more training courses."
Carolyn Mayberry

An authorized provider is an individual or organization that has a Red Cross-trained instructor who can provide American Red Cross health and safety programs in-house. By becoming an authorized provider, you can build your own training team to teach Lifeguard Training and related health and safety courses to your lifeguards and support personnel. Every aquatic facility that wants them should have staff trained as instructor trainers and instructors-in Lifeguarding and Water Safety.
Aquatic facilities need training capacity in-house to ensure that you can:
- Recruit and train the staff you need;
- Retrain returning staff at the beginning of each new season; and
- Provide necessary in-service training during the season to maintain staff competence.
