Preventing Disease Transmission
Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) is a two-hour course that can be used alone or in conjunction with other American Red Cross First Aid and CPR courses. If you're an employer, you can offer PDT as part of your compliance with OSHA regulations.
Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) addresses:
- Epidemiology and symptoms of bloodborne diseases.
- Modes of transmission of bloodborne pathogens.
- Tasks that may involve exposure to infectious materials.
- Appropriate engineering controls, work practices, and personal protective equipment.
- Vaccine efficacy, safety, and administration.
- Emergency procedures for incidents involving potentially infectious materials.
- Procedures to follow if an exposure occurs.
- Signs and labels required by OSHA.
