My local Red Cross chapter says they are not scheduling
Family Caregiving presentations at this time. |
What can I do? |
|
|
| Become an authorized provider through your local chapter, download the Leader's Guide, study
the program, order your participants materials |
| from StayWell and conduct your classes! Most local American Red Cross chapters deliver first aid, CPR and AED programs. |
| But in some communities it's not possible for our chapters to deliver the |
| new Family Caregiving program. |
|
|
| You can present the Family Caregiving program even if your Red Cross chapter does not
schedule Family Caregiving presentations at their |
| location(s).Everything you need is available online and directly from our publisher. |
|
SIX STEPS TO PRESENTING FAMILY CAREGIVING |
|
| 1. Make sure you have at least one of the leader qualifications on the previous page. |
| 2. Talk with the Health and Safety Director at your Red Cross chapter about becoming an authorized provider . |
| 3. Obtain a complete set of leader materials which consist of the Family Caregiving Leader's Guide, a Family Caregiving
DVD or video and the nine Family Caregiving Participant booklets. You will need a copy of each of the nine booklets for your self-study. |
- The Leader's Guide is available on redcross.org in PDF format.
You may print it out. The Leader's Guide will provide all the information you need to deliver the Family Caregiving program.
|
| Purchase the Family Caregiving DVD or video and nine participant
booklets from your local American Red Cross Chapter or direct from our publisher, StayWell at (800) 667-2968. |
| 4. Complete a self-orientation to the materials. |
| 5. Make arrangements to schedule Family Caregiving sessions, register participants and you are ready to deliver the program. |
| 6. Follow all of the guidelines in the Leader's Guide for presenting the material. Report your success (dates and
numbers of participants) to your local American Red Cross chapter. |
| When you are an American Red Cross authorized provider you can give your participants a "Has Attended" (c3110)
certificate available from your chapter. |
| You may also ask your chapter about getting free brochures and
posters to promote your program. |
| Authorized providers may use the American Red Cross name or logo in your dvertising and promotion of the program under our standard guidelines. |
|
| Each participant attending your presentation needs to have their own participant booklet for each one-hour session they attend. |
| Purchase the materials from your local American Red Cross chapter or call StayWell at (800) 667-2968. |
| If you have questions, contact your Red Cross chapter our American Red Cross national headquarters |
| Health and Safety Program Administration |
| at (202) 303-6008 or ProgramAdmin@usa.redcross.org |
