First Aid: Responding to EmergenciesThe national benchmarking format was used when creating the Responding to Emergenciescurriculum alignment charts. This format breaks the courses up among three grade groups: K-4, 5-8 and 9-12.

Developed for high schools, colleges and universities, this course conveniently fits into a semester or quarter schedule and can be adapted to your course outline. A minimum of 27 hours, this training combines lecture, discussion and simulated emergency situations to teach reliable responses for numerous emergency situations. Students learn about:
- Proper care and special considerations for emergencies involving adults, infants and children including CPR
- American Red Cross Check-Call-Care template-an action plan for the lay responder
- First Aid for injuries and sudden illnesses
- Preventing disease transmission
- Injury management
- Medical emergencies
- Healthy lifestyle tips
- Option wilderness basic first aid information
- Optional emergency childbirth information
