Annual Disaster Giving Program

When disaster strikes, lives are at stake and time is of the essence. Red Cross disaster workers, the vast majority of them volunteers, must go to work immediately to serve the needs of those affected.

Disaster victims need essential items right away, such as food, shelter and counseling. In order to respond to disaster-caused needs whenever and wherever a disaster occurs, the Red Cross must have money available right then. This emergency resource is provided by the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The continuing financial gifts of Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP) members help ensure that the Disaster Relief Fund will always provide a stable base of funding for response to thousands of disasters nationwide each year.

Red Cross ADGP members are corporations or foundations who pledge to give anywhere from $100,000 to more than $1 million per year to the Disaster Relief Fund. They may also donate new, bulk goods or valuable services that are needed on disasters and directly reduce costs. In support of the communities where they have employees or customers, ADGP members work with local Red Cross chapters to identify and fund programs that help create safer families and neighborhoods. Many ADGP members also help their employees get involved in the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross by encouraging them to become Red Cross volunteers, give blood and take Red Cross courses such as First Aid and CPR.

The Red Cross responds to more than 70,000 disasters each year. ADGP members turn their care and concern into immediate action through their participation in the program.

That's what truly makes our ADGP members national leaders in disaster relief.
