The American Red Cross of Central New York will hold its 11th annual Silent Auction to benefit the Madison-Oneida Branch from 5:30 p.m. until all of the items are sold on April 12 at the Vernon Downs Hotel Event Center, 4229 Stuhlman Road, Vernon. Oneida Savings Bank has been the premier sponsor of the popular event since it started in 2003.
This year, the Mardi Gras-themed event falls on opening day at the races. Mardi Gras beads will be available, and visitors can get into the spirit by wearing hats and masks. After the auction, Vernon Downs will celebrate the start of its 60th season with a spectacular fireworks show.
Items for the auction have been donated by local businesses, individuals, authors and artisans, and the Red Cross is accepting more items. Among the items that will be included in the auction are: handmade furniture, jewelry, needlework, wine, assorted theme baskets and sports memorabilia.
Two of the featured prizes are a VIP trip for two to the final two rounds of the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Ga., in April 2014 (includes entrance badges and three-night stay in a private two-bedroom, two-bath home); and two VIP tickets to the 2014 Country Music Awards (includes the after-party and air fare).
Tickets for the Silent Auction are $30 for adults and $20 for children 6 to 10 (5 and under are free). The cost includes a buffet dinner with gluten-free options starting at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are available at the Madison-Oneida Branch, 100 Washington Ave., Oneida. For more information or to purchase tickets, place an ad in the program book or donate an item, call the branch at (315) 363-2900 or email email@example.com
