Answering a call from within, we are proud to announce three new volunteers have joined the American Red Cross in Southeastern Wisconsin Board of Directors. The local volunteers drive programs and services which support an eight county area and have effect across the country and around the world.

The entire Board of Directors serve on a voluntary basis and are dedicated to preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The board’s responsibilities include adhering to national standards, strategic planning, overseeing services and programs, communications and philanthropy. In addition, they also serve on one or more board committees including Executive, Nominating, Finance & Investment, Readiness, Response and Resiliency, Community Disaster Education, International Services, Services to Armed Forces, Shelters/Mass Care and Philanthropy.

New board members include Sarah Smith from Marquette University, Bill Kellner from Right Management and Tom Kissinger from The Marcus Corporation. “Volunteers are the driving force within the Red Cross and each new member of the board was selected due to their personal compassion, volunteerism and desire to make us an even better, stronger community partner,” stated Patty Flowers, the Chief Executive Officer.

Local leadership is so vitally important as we must be ready - and able - to respond to local disasters – mostly residential fires - every day, as well as having a trained core to support relief operations around the nation such as hurricane Sandy. In addition, we provide 24/7 emergency support to members of the military and their families, provide more than 40% of the nations blood supply, teach millions in life-saving skills such as water safety, first aid, CPR and more. Through our global network, we are the safety net for humanity.

The Executive Committee includes Board Chair Mark Petrarca, (A.O. Smith Corporation), Vice-Chair Bob Eisenbrown (EDGE Investment Partners, LLC), Secretary Louise Perrin (State Farm Insurance Companies) and Treasurer Michael Hanrahan (Fox, O’Neill & Shannon, S.C.).
