American Red Cross Helping Four People After Friday Fire in Hartford

A parent and three children now have a place to stay, food, clothes, baby blankets and stuffed toys.

The American Red Cross is helping a family of four – one adult and three children – with emergency housing, food, baby item and clothing needs after a fire on Hanmer Street in Hartford on Friday. The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits, containing age and gender appropriate personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire. Children's kits included stuffed toys and blankets. American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
