American Red Cross to Honor West Sound Heroes

The American Red Cross Serving King & Kitsap Counties will honor 14 local heroes at the 13th annual West Sound Heroes Breakfast on Thursday, March 1.

The breakfast will be held from 7-9 a.m. attheKitsap Conference Center at Bremerton Harborside. The breakfast celebrates local people who have made a difference in Kitsap and North Mason counties by performing selfless and extraordinary acts in emergency situations. The actions of these heroes, selected from more than 75 nominations for 2011, exemplify the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross.

The annual breakfast, a gathering of more than 300 community and business leaders, raises critical funds to help support Red Cross disaster preparedness and response programs and services in Kitsap and North Mason counties. Presenting sponsors are Puget Sound Energy and State Farm Insurance. The breakfast host sponsor is Port Madison Enterprises and award sponsors include Harrison Medical Center, Kitsap Credit Union, Kitsap Sun, KPS Health Plans, and Group Health Cooperative, SAFE Boats International, and United Moving and Storage. Emcee for the event is Andy Wappler, Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Puget Sound Energy.
