Your American Red Cross South Texas Chapter assisted many this weekend in Edinburg, Brownsville and Harlingen.
In Brownsville, we provided canteen services of food, water and sports drinks to firefighters after a grass fire ignited.
In Edinburg and Harlingen, we assisted a total of three families affected by devastating home fires. To help them on the road of recovery, we provided immediate disaster assistance – food, clothing, shoes, temporary lodging and emotional support. A storage container was also provided to one of the families to help them store some of their personal belongings.
The American Red Cross does not receive government funding to provide disaster assistance to disaster victims. We rely heavily on the generous donations provided by our communities that we serve.
