Austin, Texas, October 4, 2013 — The American Red Cross of Central Texas has added ten new members to its Board of Directors to further reflect the growth and diversity of the Austin community. The new members bring diverse experience to their leadership roles, including decades of experience in the tech, real estate, health care and finance industries in Austin.
“Over the last several years, the Red Cross of Central Texas has undergone some big and exciting changes that will ultimately empower us to better serve the people of Austin and the surrounding communities,” said Marty McKellips, CEO of the American Red Cross, Central Texas Region. “We are so thrilled to have a dedicated Board comprised of business and philanthropy leaders.”
The newest members of the Board of Directors include:
“The American Red Cross responds to help families affected by a disaster every 24 hours in Central Texas, and as the community grows, it’s essential that we grow with it in smart ways,” said Board Chair Stacy Armijo, who has been a member of the Board since 2008. “Each individual joining the Board brings something new and powerful to advancing the mission of the Red Cross.”
“When someone supports the Red Cross, they know they’re providing vital assistance in times of disaster and spreading hope and compassion,” said John Hollister, CFO at Silicon Labs and new Board member. “Silicon Labs has long been a supporter of the Red Cross, and I look forward to furthering its mission as an active member of the Board.”
This diverse group of community leaders joins the following continuing board members, many of whom have served the Central Texas Chapter of the American Red Cross for years:
