The 85th Academy Awards® is filmed in Hollywood, but the party for Oscar® fans is in The Big Easy. Film fans are invited to put on the glitz and glam, walk the Red Carpet, meet celebrity Chris Ashworth and join us in celebrating the most exciting night of the entertainment year.
"I want to come support the Red Cross because they do so much to support so many," said Chris Ashworth star of HBO's The Wire, Terminator Salvation, and Justified. Ashworth is also starring the new movie Space Warriors, opening soon, with Josh Lucas, Danny Glover, Dermot Mulroney and Mira Sorvino.
Everyone is invited to experience the thrills and surprises of the 85th Academy Awards® on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Oscar Experience® New Orleans.
The New Orleans event is one of 46 charities in as many locations that host official viewing partiesduring the 85th Academy Awards® ceremony. The events will feature the live broadcast of the Awards presentation, which will be televised by the ABC Television Network. This year marks the tenth year that New Orleans’ party has been sanctioned by the Academy.
The New Orleans audience will watch the Academy Awards telecast live on large screens courtesy of WGNO-TV New Orleans, the New Orleans affiliate of the ABC Television Network, which broadcasts the Academy Awards presentation. This is the 21th year that the Academy and ABC have cooperated with local charities to support official Oscar Night viewing parties throughout the country.
Benefiting the American Red Cross Southeast Louisiana Chapter, New Orleans’ Oscar Night celebration is at The Theatres at Canal Place. Tickets are on sale now at www.redcross.org/neworleans or by calling 504-620-3162.
This year, we are expecting celebrity guests including Amanda Shaw at the K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen, Patron Party.
Other entertainment includes The Pocket Aces Brass Band, The Quarter Rat Pack, Jean Pierre and Expressions Jazz Band with Princess Stephanie on the Red Carpet.
When the curtains go up on the 85th Academy Awards broadcast at 6:30p.m., guests can settle into theirhigh-backed, theater seats and watch the action on the big screen; linger in the majestic foyer over open bars and a fabulous array of silent auction items; or enjoy both over the course of the party with like-minded film buffs, industry insiders and glitterati.
Chef Adolfo Garcia's Gusto Cafe provides an unforgettable menu to pair with the night's atmosphere, along with special movie themed drinks. Enjoy the paparazzi, official Academy programs for the evening for patrons, an unbelievable raffle courtesy of Lee Michael's Fine Jewelry and Hyatt Regency New Orleans, swag bags and all the glam of anight in Hollywood, while knowing that you are supporting the life-saving mission and work of the Red Cross in South Louisiana. Proceeds of the eventwill be used to support the programs and services of the American Red Cross in Southeast Louisiana.

With a 16,649 guests attending nationwide, Oscar Experience: Benefits 2012 benefited such charities as theAmerican Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House, Special Olympics, the United Way, Starlight Children's Foundation and the Ellie Fund (breast cancer support services).
