Fall River honors Red Cross volunteers, first responders

Fall River officials on Wednesday honored American Red Cross volunteers and first responders for their work during Hurricane Sandy.

Emergency Management Director Rick Aguiar ran the ceremony with City Council President Linda Pereira at the Fall River Fire Department Headquarters.

The American Red Cross opened a shelter at Durfee High School to accommodate residents during Hurricane Sandy. Some of those same volunteers were also deployed to hurricane-impacted states in the days following Sandy, and have offered strong support to our ongoing hurricane relief effort.
